SDGs - Sustainable Development Goals
In September 2015, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be achieved by 2030. These goals constitute a call to action for all countries to promote prosperity and protect the planet from climate change.
The Sustainable Development Goals are not legally binding, but UN member states, including Belgium, have committed to achieving them. They have agreed to undertake voluntary monitoring and evaluation. Civil society plays an important role in this evaluation. For the BDF, this means that persons with disabilities must be appropriately taken into account in efforts to achieve the SDGs.
