The Belgian Disability Forum (BDF) represents the Belgian people with disabilities at European and supranational levels.
The BDF brings together 18 Belgian organisations that represent people with disabilities. The BDF bases its action on the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).
The Belgian Disability Forum (BDF) joins the criticism of the European Disability Forum (EDF) regarding "The enhancing of the EU Disability Rights Strategy up to 2030". Although the European Commission has announced several interesting initiatives concerning independent living, access to work, justice and assistive technology, the BDF finds the strategy not concrete enough. Important EDF proposals, such as a European agency for accessibility and guarantees for employment and assistive technology, have not been included.
The BDF advocates for stronger measures and more resources to effectively realize the rights of persons with disabilities.
