Non-profit organisation structure

 

The Belgian Disability Forum (BDF) is structured in compliance with Belgian law relevant to non-profit organizations (NPO):

  • the General Assembly exerts all rights
  • the Board of Directors is in charge of management
  • the Bureau implements the decisions
  • the Secretariat assists the other organs at the administrative and prospective level
  • the statutes specify BDF's rights and obligations as a NPO
 

General Assembly

The General Assembly of the Belgian Disability Forum (BDF) exerts all the rights of the organisation:

  • it appoints and dismisses Board members
  • it decides on the annual action plan
  • it approves accounts and budgets

It is composed of the representatives of BDF member organisations.

It meets at least once a year.

 

Board

The members of the Board are chosen by the members of the General Assembly. Members of the Board appoint among themselves a President, a General Secretary, a Treasurer and 3 Vice-Presidents, who form the Bureau of the BDF.

  • Thomas Dabeux, Vice-President
  • Peter Schlembach, Vice-President
  • Charlotte Aelbrecht, Vice-President
  • Marc Trémouroux, Treasurer

Its current mandate will end in 2026.

 

Secretariat

The Secretariat members assist the three organs of the Belgian Disability Forum (BDF) in their tasks. They perform their work under the control of the Bureau
Their main function consists in:

  • writing minutes for the General Assembly, the Board and the Bureau
  • ensuring the follow-up of the decisions of these organs
  • filling out administrative and accounting documents in compliance with the law

BDF General Assembly also expects the Secretariat to be proactive. Therefore, the Secretariat is also responsible for:

  • the transmission of information to BDF members
  • the development of the BDF website
  • file preparation and follow-up for the Bureau
  • certain representational duties
