To inform

Information and its diffusion occupy a central place in our society. To fulfill its role of representing Belgian disabled persons on the international scene, BDF must receive, treat and transmit a significant amount of information.

To disseminate « European » information to Belgian recipients

European and supranational organisations generate an enormous quantity of documents. BDF managerial tasks consist of:

  • collecting relevant information produced by EU authorities, international and non-governmental organisations, such as the European Disability Forum (EDF)
  • treating this mass of information : analysing, organising and producing syntheses (notes, reports, "Directo")
  • transmitting the information to BDF members and Belgian institutions

To disseminate « Belgian » information to EU governing bodies

Belgian organisations and institutions have developed a social approach to integration. Their contribution is important for international authorities and their partners in the area of reflection processes and projects

BDF mission is to provide EU with a feedback on Belgian assets, which is achieved through :

  • collecting relevant information originating from BDF member organisations related to their actions, concerns and questions
  • treating this mass of information : analysing, organising and producing syntheses (notes, reports, "Directo")
  • promoting strategic campaigns needed to relay joint standpoints to European authorities, international and non-governmental organisations, such as the European Disability Forum, which is the lobbying part of BDF tasks

Communication tools

BDF uses three main communication tools:

1. Roundtables, conferences, thematic meetings

BDF chief operational activity remains the organisation of meetings, which represent the most convivial and active manner to manage information. They also give the opportunity to debate members standpoints

2. Newsletter

The electronic newsletter from BDF allows to quickly transmit synthesised information to its members as well as to important sectors dealing with disabilities.

3. Website

This is the most complete communication tool that provides everyone with organised and updated access to BDF expertise. It is also an interactive tool, allowing messages to evolve with the files. Unfortunately, information updating is also time-consuming.
